LAUT – An interesting German vegetarian café

Opened in October 2023 in the sleepy village of Pangkung Tibah, very far away from the busy shortcuts of Canggu, the new kid on the block is an interesting one.

Ran by a young German couple, the menu *shockingly* does not include Avocado toast, but instead offers a selection of classic teutonic flavours with modern presentation.

The pretzels are freshly made in-house and coated with the right amount of salt, so I highly recommend you order one on your next visit.

Another nod to their origins is the Apfel Schorle, a sparkling apple juice that’s not very commonly found on this side of the Equator.

The atmosphere is very peaceful given the location. A funny story on that is the address is “Gang Leise” which means peaceful in German. LAUT, on the other hand, means “loud” which is a nice play on words.

Every Sunday, they offer an all-you-can-eat à la carte brunch menu for only 200k, which includes bread and your choice of side plates. You can order as much cheese, Maultaschen, pretzels and muesli as your heart desires which is not just great value for money, but also a smart way to try their whole menu in smaller portions.
